Does a blog still make sense in 2025? Hell yeah! And here's why.

It's 2025. Blogs are dead, they say. Nobody reads long texts anymore, they say. And yet: Here you are. And you're reading this right now. Weird, isn't it?
While everyone on TikTok is succumbing to the three seconds of fame and Instagram stories disappear faster than my resolution to drink less coffee, a blog remains exactly what social media isn't: consistent. My own space on the internet. No algorithm kicking me into insignificance. No "Sorry, your content isn't performing." Here, I make the rules.
My blog, my creative playground
Austin Kleon says in "Show Your Work" that creativity is a process that should be shared. And that's exactly what I'm doing here from now on. Not a perfect, glossy catalog, but a kind of digital notebook with real thoughts, real mistakes, real learnings, and things that touch me.
A story from photography (because, why not?)
I remember one night somewhere in a strange city. Camera in hand, lamplight on the wet street, I wanted the perfect picture (I always want that, whatever that means). But everything felt... "meh". I took a few pictures, changed the angle, experimented. I realized right there that the picture I wanted wasn't there. So was all the effort in vain? I tried to derive something good from it and quickly realized it was the experience, or rather the story, that I could now tell. – It's exactly the same with my blog. A single post might be nice, but it's the bigger picture that creates the magic. My blog tells my experiences over time and thus also about me.
Why I blog (not gonna lie)
- I'm being found – Google loves text. A good blog post brings in new readers for years. An Instagram post? Poof. Gone.
-
I understand myself better – writing helps me organize my thoughts. And when you think clearly, you can act more wisely.
-
I'm building a community —people don't follow products or profiles, but personalities and stories. My texts should be informative and make me more relatable.
- I remain independent – no algorithm dictates my visibility. My blog, my rules.
Conclusion: Just do it!
My blog is like a long exposure. Each post adds another detail to the overall picture. Sure, blogs aren't the hot new platform anymore, but that's precisely what makes them so cool for me. Less noise, more depth, more personality.
So, I'll keep writing. And who knows? Maybe in ten years, someone will still be reading this very post, while Instagram has long since been buried. 😉
Side note: And I can use all my images that never made it to my Instagram feed for the article covers. 🤫
